So, two weeks on…… and FATHER AND SON are going racing at Pembrey, Simon verses Archie on the famous Welsh circuit in Division 2 of the BTRC, in 2 days’ time.
New radiator fitted, panels on and paint almost dry on Archies Race Truck – well mostly at least, and she is wrapped too!
Wrapped as in vinyl, not as in Birthday or Christmas paper that is – but you will have to wait for the colour – will it be “electric pink” like Simons Race Truck “Frankie”, or white, black, or silver……
And of course, what name will Archie choose for his trusty new steed?
Will the exuberance of youth be a match for over 10 years of Truck Racing experience, which Simon has under his belt – one thing is for sure, as one of the youngest Truck Racers in Europe all eyes will be on Archie, and we’re sure his HGV Class 1, and four years of track experience with cars will help.
It’s been a few years since the (Ex Paddy Mac) Volvo has turned a tyre on the track and many things are just not possible to test in the workshop – but with three test sessions on the Friday at Pembrey it will be possible to sort out any minor issues – so let’s put the Race Truck out on the black top and see what Archie can do with her!
Then the battle starts…
Qualifying on Saturday, followed by 2 races – Simon, and Archie (Father and son) in competition with “JP” and a replacement “guest” driver – two new drivers on the track and two experienced ones in Division 2 – all “mixing it” with the Division 1 boys – will it be “calm” (fingers crossed for no storms – but it is Wales after all!) or “chaos” at the Welsh circuit?
Then, “rinse and repeat”, with three more races on the Sunday……will it be team orders? …will Simon, as team principal, pull rank over his son Archie? …will Archie refuse to repair Simons Race Truck from Saturday? …. or will the best “man” win? I know one thing – they are both going to race to win – why compete otherwise!!
And the biggest question of all, will the pit radio be broad-castable …………. or only alternate words…. maybe ……and a few “beeps”.
Father vs. Son
IVECO vs. Volvo
MAN vs. Cummins
Who will triumph?
THANK YOU to ALL our wonderful sponsors; to the businesses who help us out in kind, or with cash (although we accept cheques too of course!), we could NOT do this without you ALL – no matter how big or small your help – this team of family and friends could not do this without YOU. YOU made it possible for Simon, and now Archie, and put father and son on the track as much as the rest of this family and friends based team. THANK YOU. (but we always need more help of course).
Come and see us all, cheer on Archie and Simon and “THINK PINK” at the Circuit if you can – we are always happy to chat and show you our race trucks – unless we are repairing them of course, in which case best to give us some space to work safely.
If you cannot visit the track, then remember to check out the “BARC Pembrey” live feed on YouTube – or of course “catch up” later.
